  Leaded: The Materiality and Metamorphosis of Graphite
  11/14/2008 To 1/4/2009
  The exhibit features features 50 works by 16 artists who utilize the physical nature and characteristics of graphite.  Two- and three-dimensional works are grouped into three overlapping themes by emerging and established artists.  Graphite as Content includes artwork where subject matter is merged with use of the medium.  The work ranges from minimalist drawings to playful uses of negative and positive space.  Graphite as Transformative Agent  includes two- and three-dimensional works that are transformed through the application or removal of graphite.  Graphite as Sculpture presents pieces which employ graphite and pencils as sculptural material within a conceptual framework and/or systematic formation.  Some of the artists included are: The Art Guys, Christopher Cook, Gloria Ortiz-Hernandez, James Busby, Mark Sheinkman, Stephen Sollins, Molly Springfield, Hsin-His Chen, Stephana McClure, Meghan Gerety, and Sarah Lovitt.
