A live film screening at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, features native Texas filmmaker Rene Pinnell in the Art Museum Auditorium, followed by a discussion of his work. Pinnell's films have attracted international attention at venues such as the Montreal Comedy Festival and the Raindance Film Festival in London. The "Elevator Art Club," an innovative arts organization in Austin of which Pinnell was the creative director, was recognized as "Most Dada Art Collective" by The Austin Chronicle. The screening of Pinnell's work in Corpus Christi will include several short comedy films and is the kick-off for The Territory Independent Film Series, annually sponsored by the Texas Commission on the Arts and the City of Corpus Christi Arts and Cultural Commission.
